OK for the price,
As has been indicated, this lacks the little hooks that are used on the original Apple ones to keep the thing in place when plugged in. So it’s only usable for situations where your iPod will stay in one place, otherwise it will slip out regularly.

Works as advertised!,
I was wary of this generic iPhone dock adapter, but it surprisingly works as advertised. When you plug it in, the iPhone will warn you that this accessory is not designed to work with the iPhone and that sound quality might be affected, but none of that happened. Just dismiss the warning and you are all set to go. I used the adapter in conjunction with my windshield car mount so that both the USB power cable and the audio cable (which connects to my in-car sound system) come out of the same side of the iPhone. It makes cable routing much neater. All-in-all, I am happy with it — No problems.

Ok for the price,
I got this to use with a portable headphone amp and a set of decent quality headphones, in the hopes of getting a better quality sound out of my ipod. There seem to be a few products on the market that let you take a line out of an ipod for this purpose, but not many of them let you charge the ipod at the same time, which is why I went for this one.
Overall it “just works”, although as some other people have noted it doesn’t clip into the dock connector on the ipod, so has a tendency to disconnect itself if you move it around. The biggest downside for me was the sound quality: When I’m charging the ipod I get quite a lot of hiss and hum through the line out, to the point where I’m better off using the headphone jack. Of course this defeats the point of this gadget…
It’s probably fine in noisy environments (e.g. as an adapter to connect your ipod to a car stereo), but turned out to be not quite what I wanted.
