Mr. Grahame Elford Says:
Awesome – Who needs Bose,
I’ve been looking at a sound dock for my iPod for a while now! I recently went to PC World and was looking at a specific sound dock they had in their sale, it was OK, very large but the sound quality was not great, too much bass with no top end.
I’d given up on it and was about to leave when I saw the Sony RDP-X50iP sitting next to a Bose unit, I put my iPod in and wow, what a great sound, at first I was convinced it had been rigged up to a subwoofer somewhere I just couldn’t believe the bass and clarity I was hearing was just coming out of the Sony unit but it was and I was blown away, I actually preferred it more than the Bose unit next to it and of course it had a much lower price tag.
I made my mind up it was the one for me and after some shopping about I managed to get it for £125.00 on line.
I am so impressed, it it very easy to use, comes with a remote control so you don’t have to remove your iPod each time you want to select the music you need, it has very well laid out buttons on top which feel robust and responsive. The Mega Bass feature can be switched off from the unit or the r/c and you do notice a difference with it on/off but it depends on the type of music being listened too as to whether it is necessary to have it on or not.
The unit itself is solid yet not overly heavy, portability being a key factor for me. It has a cut out on the back to make it easy to pick up and the mains adapter and cable are a good length.
It is supplied with adapters for iPhone’s too (3 & 4) so iPhone owners can use it.
It has an audio in connection for other devices and MP3 players so it is a versatile unit to own.
I am still amazed at the sound quality and I am very pleased I decided to get one. OK a Bose unit may have been better but not for the extra it would have cost and for my untrained ears the sound on the Sony was as good if not better than that on the Bose.
I’ve always been a fan of Sony audio equipment and while they can be more pricey than their competitors I do feel you get what you pay for and Sony’s products are always of the highest quality and do represent value for money in my opinion.
I would recommend this unit for the price, build quality and most of all the sound it emits, I don’t think you would be disappointed if you bought one!

Superb speaker dock,
Firstly let me say this speaker dock IS compatible with an IPod touch 4th gen. I bought a new 8gb IPod touch through Amazon 6 weeks ago and this dock 3 weeks ago and they work together perfectly. Sony may not show the 4g in the operating instructions but mine work superbly well. The remote navigates the IPod’s playlists, plays, pauses, and skips forward & back.
The build quality is superb and the sound will have you beaming like a Cheshire cat. The wonderful bass, mid and treble frequencies really blew me away.
I cannot recommend this dock highly enough. I researched umpteen docks and reviews for over 2 wks before opting for this and it’s without doubt one of my best purchases. Brilliant!

Excellent Sound & Style,
Excellent sound quality and the style is very sleek and stylish.
Shame it’s not portable as it does need to be constantly plugged in, but it makes up for this with the sound quality.
Has an excellent bass function that will be perfect for ‘pounding’ parties.
I use it with the iphone 3gs and there is no interference, also used with ipod touch with no problems.
Great buy!
